With the stance trend sweeping the world off it’s feet the past few years, the once common function styling in the scene has become the minority at shows and meets especially here in sunny Florida. Thankfully, there are still a few left and one of them is a great friend of mine. Alex’s 350Z is a perfect mix of his own personality and what he wants to achieve with the car.
Alex, like most of us, started out with a car that would get him to school and back. His MK3 Jetta was just that. He threw in an Alpine system, put some wheels on it and drove it. Unfortunately the MK3 was near the end of its life, and passed away. Soon he was on the hunt for something new. He was looking for a fun car to be a nice daily driver, nothing crazy.
And so the purchase of his 2005 Nissan 350Z. It started with a simple set of Motegi Touge wheels. The next time I saw it, an assortment of new things had been done. A Quaiffe LSD had been added, carbon fiber front lip, side splitters and a rear defuser, full bolt ons. Daily driver, right? It didn’t stop there.
In the hunt for more traction, BC Racing coils were added, sway bars, strut bars, a massive 255 front and 285 rear Continental Extreme tire on new Enkei RPF1s, Wilwood brakes, a half cage, Bride seats and the Takata harness. Yep, still a daily driver.
Fast forward to today – the Z just recently got back on the road after a catastrophic cooling failure. Thanks to Mishimoto for sending out a brand new lower temperature thermostat as well as their full size radiator to get her cooled off. She’s also now sporting a set of 370Z 6 piston brakes with even larger slotted rotors.
